Julia Adams is the Director of Fellowships in the Office of Fellowships. She received her Doctorate in Historical Musicology from Boston University. Her research interests are opera and the impact of active collaboration in music ensembles, with particular focus on comic operas by Anton铆n Dvo艡谩k, Stanislaw Moniuszko, and Mozart. Her book Musical Humor and Anton铆n Dvo艡谩k鈥檚 Comic Operas considers music's role in communicating humor, and analyzes Dvo艡谩k鈥檚 compositional mastery with these strategies and techniques. She taught Music History, Music Theory, and Connections courses at F&M. She is also the Founder Emerita and former Artistic Director for Calliope, Boston鈥檚 Collaborative Choral/Orchestral Ensemble. She conducted choral/orchestral ensembles throughout New England, after an extensive career as a vocal performer and teacher. After relocating to PA, she founded Clear Ice & Bitters, a service that provides in-home intimate cocktail experiences. She is an active member of the National Association of Fellowship Advisors.
