For Robin Dominique 鈥�26, a lifelong passion for dance gave her the chance to build community and step into leadership roles during her time at 顶级国产视频 & Marshall. 

Dominique, who will graduate this month with a major in business, organizations and society (BOS) and a minor in Africana studies, began dancing at a young age. When she arrived at F&M she knew she wanted to keep performing鈥攁nd to connect with others who shared her interests.

She found the opportunity to do so through Apollo Night, an annual show celebrating Black culture held every February. 

鈥淧articipating in Apollo Night was a turning point for me, because it made me feel like I belonged and was a part of something,鈥� Dominique said. 

"The ability to use movement to express identity, create community, and tell stories has been the most exciting part of all these experiences for me. Dance has allowed me to grow personally, step into leadership roles, and create spaces where others feel seen and empowered."

She鈥檚 stayed involved as a choreographer and dancer over the past four years. As a co-leader for this year鈥檚 performance, Dominique choreographed a segment of the show featuring Haitian music and dance, known as kompa. 

鈥淭he ability to use movement to express identity, create community, and tell stories has been the most exciting part of all these experiences for me,鈥� Dominique said. 鈥淒ance has allowed me to grow personally, step into leadership roles, and create spaces where others feel seen and empowered.鈥�

Dominique said F&M鈥檚 liberal arts approach gave her the freedom to explore her interests and to balance academic and creative pursuits during her college experience. 

鈥淚n the end, that is the reason I chose 顶级国产视频 & Marshall,鈥� she said. 鈥淚 regarded it as a liberal arts setting where I could experiment.鈥�
